About This Spot

Ford’s Cove Restaurant unfolds like a quietly cherished local hideaway tucked along the serene shores of Hornby Island. Arriving here is like stepping into a scene where laid-back island life meets the satisfying comfort of a meal shared with good company. The pace is unhurried, inviting visitors to settle into the timeless rhythm of the water’s edge while the light shifts gently over the horizon.

This is the kind of place where the atmosphere is shaped as much by the stunning views as it is by the friendly, attentive presence of the staff—welcoming without pretense, and always ready with thoughtful touches that make you feel right at home. It’s a spot where conversation flows easily, and the landscape outside becomes part of the experience unfolding at your table.

Seafood naturally takes center stage here, served with a simplicity and respect for freshness that speaks to the island’s maritime heritage. Dishes arrive invitingly generous and crafted to highlight the local catch. Whether it’s a crisp, thoughtfully battered piece of halibut or a burger layered with fresh flavors, the food feels grounded and satisfying, perfectly in tune with the setting. But beyond the plate, part of the joy is watching the evening change color while sharing a meal that feels honest and just a little bit special.

There’s a genuine warmth to Ford’s Cove that lingers after the meal—rooted in the kind of place where both locals and visitors return, drawn by more than just the menu. It is where the delight comes from the interplay of simple pleasures: quality food, a welcoming smile, and the ever-changing seaside view framing each visit.

The fish wrap was flavourful & filling. The fish n chips amazing. Portions are large, fish battered perfectly with a nice crispness to it. Views spectacular. Service excellent. Definitely going back for more

We visited Ford's cove on an early July evening with a group of 9 people. We were seated with an unobstructed view of the amazing evening pre sunset and incredible views of the water. The staff were very pleasant, courteous, and hospitable. They had our group plated up and served in a very timely manner and kindly answered any requests. The food was very tasty, nice portions, and i noted how neatly the food was plated up. Everyone in our group was completely satisfied, and all commented on the food and establishment. We had a variety of beverages with our dinner, I enjoyed a couple of glasses of the house red. It was nice, especially with the view! I think some low music would be a very nice addition, it's good for the atmosphere and also nice for the employees work environment. Pre pay... I'm not a huge fan of this. I spoke to the owner, and he explained the reasoning, and I understand, but it seriously takes from the patrons' experience and leaves a cafeteria taste and probably reduces staff tips. The prices were absolutely fair, and the quality of everything was great! There is a pretty well stocked store blow this location as well if you need groceries/supplies if you are on the water. **note if you come by water, you have to make reservations with the harbor or anchor nearby and dingy up. I give 5 stars as the overall experience was memorable and i look forward to revisiting Ford's cove and sharing it's beautiful views with friends in the future!

The nerds leaving bad reviews on this place are clearly expecting a big-city dining experience. This is an island joint and sometimes you're going to have to wait for a table and/or your food when it's busy. That said, the food is delicious, very reasonably priced, and well worth the wait during the rush period. The staff are always friendly as well.

Wow! What a fantastic spot. Beautiful views, lovely service, and absolutely delicious food. I had crab cakes, which were phenomenal and crisp with a side salad. My kids had fish and chips and I got to eat some of that too - it was the best fish and chips I have ever had. Huge fresh thick piece of halibut with very light crispy batter. Had gluten free buns for my kid’s sandwich. Totally reasonable prices. We came for an early dinner and they were able to accommodate our party of 10. We’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic place to enjoy the view. Great atmosphere and great food. One of the best on Hornby. I was surprised by the low rating so trust me when I say disregard! In reading the poor reviews it’s all entitled and disgruntled people who simply can’t do anything without complaining. I mean seriously.. someone gave a 1 star review because they tried to change a diaper ON A TABLE and other patrons and staff took issue with it..? Of course you can’t do that here! WTH!! Anyways.. absolutely fire establishment enjoy and be happy!
